Common Tree Parasites and Diseases in WI
Anthracnose – A fungi that forms patchy canker like bumps on leaves, stems, or flowers. It often affects oak, ash, sycamore, and evergreen elm trees.
Cedar Apple Rust – A fungi that produces white spots on leafs. Often occurs on apple trees.
Needlecast – A fungi that affects pine and spruce trees, and turns their needles brown
Tar Spot – Forms black spots on maple leaves, will travel in between trees, but is not harmful
Japanese Beetles – These beetles eat leaves and flowers on most plants. Although they rarely kill trees and plants, they do weaken them, making the plants and trees more susceptible to other diseases.
